Rebecca L. Dana MS, CCC-SLP, PC, SIPT, LSVT, COM® Certified is a Speech-Language Pathologist. She is a Magna Cum Laude graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. She received her Master of Science degree in Communication Disorders from the University of Texas at Dallas. She holds her Clinical Certification of Competence through the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association, and is a licensed and registered member of the Texas Speech-Language and Hearing Association.

She is a PROMPT Certified (P.C.) therapist.  PROMPT (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets) was developed in the late 1970s by Deborah Hayden and focuses on motor development and acquisition of sound blends to form words. She received her COM® from the IAOM (International Association of Orofacial Myology). Her interest in Sensory Processing Disorders led her to become certified in giving Sensory Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT) under the direction of several leading occupational therapists in the field of sensory integration. She has also received additional sensory integration training through the Intensive Mentorship program from the STAR center under the direction of Lucy Jane Miller.

Oral motor awareness in feeding involves every sensory system therefore she has studied both the foundations of the S.O.S. Approach to Feeding as well as the Advanced Studies involving special populations for children with G-tubes, Autism and Picky Eaters all founded by Kay A. Toomey and Erin Ross. As no two children are alike, additional training includes Lori Overland’s Sensorimotor Approach to Feeding provided by TalkTools. Debra Beckman has also trained her in Oral Motor tissue release as a means of understanding minimal competencies of muscle movement for feeding. Rebecca has also had training in feeding therapy using the AEIOU integrated approach by Nina Johanson along with baby-friendly techniques from Ellen Carlin.

Rebecca is currently studying Buteyko breathing techniques from Patrick McKeown.

Rebecca is trained in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices such as switches, Dynavox, the iPad with Proloquo2Go and the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS system).   She believes that training for parents and caregivers are essential to the success of the patients learning. In this way, strategies required to facilitate motor speech targets in different environments are provided as she works closely with other therapists who implement expressive language targets.  

Processing auditory information is an important component to the sensory system therefore she is a certified provider for The Listening Program as well as inTime (drum rhythm line) from Advanced Brain Technologies.

She is a certified provider for both Interactive Metronome and the Interactive Metronome Home Program where movement and motor planning and processing can be addressed in a fun and interactive way. She also has been trained in the Makoto-USA Arena, a device that allows the participant to explore cognition and memory involving visual and auditory processing through body based interactions. 

Additional training includes the SCERTS (Social Communication, Emotional Regulation, and Transactional Support) Model, which is a comprehensive educational approach for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

She has worked in elementary and preschool programs for children with disabilities (PPCD) as well as private practice prior to setting up her own clinic. She is a mother of a child who has struggled in school due to speech delays. She is a good mediator as she is able to assist families at their Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings. She enjoys serving children with a variety of communication and feeding disorders. This includes non- verbal communicators, childhood apraxia of speech, deficits in play and social skills, auditory processing, articulation, language, and stuttering.
